Field notes

The story

Time spent in the field.

Field Editions came out of years spent working in the field as a wildlife cinematographer and biologist.

A lot of that time is quiet. You’re waiting, watching, moving through landscapes where animals are just getting on with it. Occasionally something happens that sticks. Not because it’s dramatic, but because it feels real.

Those are the moments this project is built around.

After filming animals for years, I wanted a different way to hold onto them. Something slower than footage. Something you can sit with.

Each release is based on a specific encounter. Observed in the field, then reworked through an artist’s hand into something more considered.

Field observation

Each piece begins with something witnessed.
